If you are wearing stockings in bed at night and find your restless leg syndrome worsening you may need to convert the type of socks you use. Here are helpful suggestions for the type of socks to use.

Many people wear socks to bed to keep their feet warm, it is not that unusual. Some wear them only in the winter while others wear them all year round. But, not every person has restless leg syndrome.

If you wear socks to bed only in the winter and not in the summer your symptoms may seem worse at that time. And you may blame the worsening on the cold weather when in fact it may be your socks.

Pay concentration to the type of sock you are wearing. Are they over the calf socks that go up to your knee or are they crew socks that go to your shin?

How tight are they? Is the elastic too tight to where it may restrict the blood flow? If you have a deep indentation of your skin at the elastic sight on your leg they may be too tight. If your leg cramps up while sleeping they may be too tight.

Try a easy solution and convert your socks.

Change to a wearing a footie or a quarter crew sock that covers your foot and ankle but nothing higher on your leg.

Or you could try compression stockings. These do not restrict blood flow and aid in circulation. Some restless leg syndrome sufferers have claimed these stockings help to ease symptoms.

While wearing stockings in bed may keep your feet warm they may worsen your restless leg syndrome symptoms. Changing the type of sock you wear could help ease those symptoms.
